Step-By-Step Instructions

Below are some step-by-step instructions for setting up several popular e-mail clients.

We've recently added the ability to have your mail sorted by the server. Instead of downloading all your mail and having your client sort it, the server can do this as new mail arrives.

There's a 10MB limit on file attachments, anything larger will not be accepted for delivery. If you do need to mail out a big file, you may use our Mail Truck service. With Mail Truck, you can upload the file with your web browser and an e-mail with a link will be sent out on your behalf.

Settings for Other Mail Clients

We provide an full-service e-mail server, it provides both POP, IMAP, and SMTP services. While we do provide POP, we strongly recommend that all customers use IMAP. Listed below is the information needed to setup your e-mail client.

  • IMAP (incoming mail server)
    Server: secure.escapecs.com
    Port: 993 (requires SSL)
  • SMTP (outgoing mail server)
    Server: secure.escapecs.com
    Port: 465 (requires SSL)
  • POP3S (incoming mail server)
    Server: secure.escapecs.com
    Port: 995 (requires SSL)

You will need to authenticate to use these services, they all support the "Password" authentication mechanism.

Many ISP's will block the unsecured SMTP port, by using the secure SMTP port you will be able to send e-mail if you use one of these ISP's. This is most often a problem while traveling, many hotels block the unsecured SMTP port.

All of these servers require SSL. We also offer unsecured access to these services, but we strongly recommend that you do not use them. All of your communication with the mail server will be sent in the clear and will be available for snooping by anyone on your local network.

  • IMAP (incoming mail server)
    Server: mx.escapecs.com
    Port: 143
  • SMTP (outgoing mail server)
    Server: mx.escapecs.com
    Port: 25
  • POP3 (incoming mail server)
    Server: mx.escapecs.com
    Port: 110

Unsecure SMTP is particularly problematic, many large ISP's block access to port 25, preventing your mail client from sending out e-mail. Using secure SMTP resolves this issue.
